To say I am disgusted would be an understatement.  Over the past 2 years or so, my wife and I have been "trying" to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and combine it with a trip to the commissioning of the "new" Little Rock,  As we all know, the date for commissioning kept being pushed forward and we, to fit the schedule, kept moving our 50th celebration forward.  When I finally found out when the firm date was, I then find out, THERE ARE NO TICKETS AVAILABLE.  I have stated on some of my correspondence, that I would really like to attend.  This is such an important event for all Rockers and I'm totally dismayed that we were not informed.  After all the delays of a firm date, one gets a little gun shy.  Maybe that's the problem?
Looks like I will have to book a trip to somewhere warm in December.
I read, a little while back, the tickets were not available but I was too mad to respond.

Joe:

We have no idea from where you are getting your information.

Tickets are available for Little Rock vets and, especially, members of the USS Little Rock Association.

We have been sending our newsletter, LitComs, via email - but for some reason you have declined to receive it and have deleted your email address from our contact list.  So we've been unable to keep you properly informed.

Perhaps you would want to reinstate your access to LitComs?  Just let us know.

Meanwhile, if you would like to attend the commissioning on December 16th, we can arrange for you to receive one or two tickets.

Thanks
Frank

Frank, I did not respond to your post immediately, as you can see.  We had already booked our 50th wedding anniversary trip after finding out there were "no more tickets available".

In answer to your question, "we have no idea where you got your information".
I have listed below, 7 quotes taken from LCS 9 news;

Under USS Little Rock LCS 9, click news and you will find the following,
December 16 commissioning "already closed ticketing because of demand"
"though the ceremony itself is sold out"
"citizens who wish to experience the commissioning, sold out"

Under Future USS Little Rock LCS to arrive in Buffalo
In the seventh paragraph "which is sold out"

Under the heading  No more tickets left for USS Little Rock Commissioning Ceremony
2nd paragraph "no more tickets left"
3rd paragraph "capacity for this event has been reached"
5th paragraph "we have reached the limit for this event, for attendance"

I read everyone of the above articles and so I believed "there were no more tickets".  Makes sense to me.
So you can see why I believed there were "no more tickets" and that is why I was disgusted.  I also find it hard to believe no one saw this as a problem when it was printed.  Its my understanding that everything that goes on the website is pre-viewed and approved.  I am so very disappointed.

Hi Joe, and thanks for the reply.

It appears that you were seeing information from the website of the LCS9 commissioning committee, which was meant for the public consumption.  This may have been transferred to our website - I am not sure.  However, it always was the intention to provide tickets for LRA members in any case.  Our LitComs newsletter consistently informed members that they would always be able to acquire seats, regardless of any other considerations.  We sent out three different newsletters which attested to that.

In fact, we had requests from members up to a few days before the actual event, and these requests were accommodated.

For some reason these newsletters were not reaching your email box and were rejected.  Happy to see that you lately have been receiving them.

I am sorry this situation arose.  All I can say is that almost a hundred of our members attended the commissioning, and we wish you folks had been present with us.

Thanks, and with best wishes.
