Hi, I have wondered for years why the Rock crew was never awarded the Cuban Blockade ribbon maybe called Navy Expeditionary Medal. We were there and shadowed a Russian freighter or two as well as guarding the water ship, since Cuba had cut off water to the Guantanamo base. I have seen a listing of ships involved in the blockade, but the USS Little Rock is not listed. An error, an oversight or some timing thing? Anyone?

Well, maybe my 55 year old memory isn't that good after all. I just found this that I sent to a shipmate that also thought we were in the blockade.

Maybe our memories are fading. Cuba yes, shadowed a Soviet freighter, yes but in 1962, Oct 16-28, The dates of the 13 day blockade, our ship log says we were in Portsmouth Naval Shipyard PNSY, See
