Did you blow the whistle on the 1MC?

Did anyone ever do any sweeping when the announcement was made for sweepers to man your brooms?

How many different announcements were there?

I’d like to start with my favorite 1MC announcement.  “GANGBUSTER, GANGBUSTER, GANGBUSTER! – What were the officers up to?  Anyone care to take guess?

My favorite was usually "All Hands, the geedunk truck is on the pier!"

There were a few 1MC shorts.

"Underway"

"SixthFleet Departing"

Does anyone remember the others?

Entering or leaving a port, we had Honors to Port(starbord) Followed by hand salute. This was for foreign Naval vessels or government installations.

Wiki does a great job of describing the "1MC."

A few more "Pipes" for the record....

"The following is a test of the ship’s general, chemical and collision alarms."

"The following is a test of the 1MC from the bridge. Testing. Testing. Test Out."

“This is the Captain speaking....”

“Now Payday will be held on the messdecks at 1300”.

“Mail Call.  Mail Call”

“ Now hear this......”

“Seaman Smith report to the bridge.”

“Petty Officer Smith report to the bridge.”

“Ensign Smith please report to the bridge.

"General Quarters, General Quarters! All hands man your battle stations. Go up and forward on your starboard side, down and aft on your port side.”

“General Quarters, General Quarters!" Fire in Missile House.”

"Sweepers, Sweepers, man your brooms. Give the ship a clean sweep down both fore and aft! Sweep down all lower decks, ladder wells and passageways! Dump all garbage clear of the fantail! Sweepers."

"Sweepers, Sweepers, man your brooms. Give the ship a clean sweep down both fore and aft! Sweep down all lower decks, ladder wells and passageways! Dump all garbage in dumpsters provided for on the pier. Sweepers."

"Now lay before the mast all Eight O'clock Reports.”

"There are men working aloft. Do not rotate, radiate, or energize any electric or electronic equipment or operate ship's whistle while men are working aloft.”

"There are divers over the side, do not rotate screws, cycle rudders, take suction from or discharge to the sea or operate any underwater equipment without first contacting the Chief Engineer and the diving supervisor."

"Reveille! Reveille! Reveille! All hands heave out and trice up. Reveille!"

"Taps! Taps! Lights out! All hands turn in. Maintain silence about the decks. Taps."

"Darken Ship! Make Darken Ship reports to CCS."

"Fire! Fire! Fire! Class (A, B, C, or D) Fire in Compartment (XXX). Away the Fire Party.”

"Flight Quarters! Flight Quarters! All personnel not involved in flight operations stay forward of frame XXX ”.

Breakaway music played at the conclusion of an underway replenishment.

1.) "Stonehenge -- Stonehenge;" just one repeated word no set interval said to be sending receiving COMM.

2.) Security Alert... not a short one...
